Kill two birds with one stone with this attractive bench seat-cum-screen.
You will need:
Also required: Fence capping (two 1800mm), 14 x 1800mm fence palings (cut 10 of these down to 1250mm), 60mm galvanised nails, four 200mm galvanised bolts with washers, exterior construction glue, skill saw, hammer, drill with 10mm drill bit, belt sander and chisel. One litre Resene Woodsman Penetrating Oil Stain tinted to Resene Rangitoto.
To get the look: the bench is surrounded with a 5mm layer of bark chips. The grape ‘Schuyler’ is part of the Incredible Edibles ranch.
Step 1
Set the skill saw blade to a depth of 50mm and cut two lines across the four legs 350mm and 450mm from bottom. Cut a series of close lines across the four legs and remove with a hammer and chisel.
Step 5
Nail and glue three fence palings to form the seat. Cut a fourth paling to fit along the back edge.
